Picture a group of friends: one grinds exclusively on PC, another swore an oath of fealty to Xbox, and a third believes gaming only exists on PlayStation. The fourth and fifth are armed only with smartphones, playing only three-in-a-raw games and the simplest table games at the 20bet Asia casino. And in the corner, a sixth buddy is peacefully playing with their Nintendo Switch. It would seem there’s zero chance of getting everyone together.
But there is a cross-play feature that blurs the lines between platforms. Pick any of these titles and invite your friends to a shared online lobby where the platform no longer matters.
Fortnite
A squad of up to four friends can connect to the game from different platforms, including mobile and Nintendo Switch. Progress transfers easily between versions: nothing stops you from playing on PC in the evening, under the covers on your smartphone at night, and on a console at a friend’s place on the weekend. Your character remains exactly the same everywhere.
Among Us
A crew of suspicious individuals gathers on a spaceship, where one to three people are actually traitors (Impostors). Their job is to quietly take out the rest of the crew while remaining above suspicion. The mission for the survivors is, naturally, to identify the Impostors before they complete their genocide.
Outriders
A looter-shooter about colonists on the planet Enoch. Four classes offer different playstyles: the Trickster freezes and slices, the Pyromancer burns, the Technomancer sets up turrets, and the Devastator becomes a living tank. Then comes the hunt for “legendaries,” crafting, leveling builds, and storming difficult expeditions. The co-op is designed for three people. Outriders features full cross-play between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Characters and progress cannot be transferred between different ecosystems.
Genshin Impact
A cross-platform multiplayer game that captured the hearts of millions of anime fans, while simultaneously introducing the culture of “2D girls” to those previously unfamiliar with it. To gather collectible cute battle girls for your team, players need to reach level sixteen. The main condition besides this is playing in the same geographic zone (Europe, Asia, etc.).
War Thunder
The reboot of the most popular part of the legendary CoD: MW series was awaited more than any other. And the wait paid off, not just with cross-platform play, but with cross-platform progression. This means that while participating in dynamic network battles, you are free to switch from platform to platform without losing the experience accumulated by your character. At the same time, PC players easily coexist in the same match with console gamers lounging on the couch with a gamepad.
Overwatch 2
In Overwatch 2, you choose a hero with unique abilities that define the playstyle rather than a weapon. There are modes with point capture, truck escort, and others. Maps are designed so you always fight “head-on” and don’t sit behind cover. There is full cross-play between PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch, and progress and cosmetics are stored in Battle.net. Historically, when playing with PC friends, auto-aim on controllers was limited or disabled for balance; the topic still comes up in patches and the community, so in “mixed” lobbies, it’s best not to rely on aim assist.
Star Wars: Squadrons
If you played the first or second generation of SW: Battlefront, you surely remember the flight missions (literally and figuratively) where you had to participate in orbital battles. Squadrons expands on this theme, turning the mode into a separate service game. Gamers participate in battles between the Republic and the Empire, with action taking place after the events of the sixth episode of the film saga. Developing their fighter and character, players can fight in cross-platform mode on PC, Xbox, and PS.
Hearthstone
Based on the WarCraft universe, Hearthstone has conquered tens of millions of players on both PC and mobile platforms. For a long time now, players have been able to continue their fun card battles wherever they are, and opponents can be matched from any platform.
Helldivers 2
This is a cooperative PvE shooter that drew inspiration from Paul Verhoeven’s old-school film “Starship Troopers.” Players gather in squads, travel to diverse locations on several planets, and heroically fight two threats at once—countless giant bugs and socialist cyborgs. Since release, PC and PlayStation owners could play together, and as of 2025, Xbox users have finally joined them.
The Finals
Almost all the most popular session-based online shooters are dinosaurs from years past. The Finals burst onto this scene in 2023 and confidently displaced the “old timers,” showing how to make truly fun shooters with fighting game elements. Players from different platforms can take part in dynamic matches using cold steel and firearms. It can’t be said that “keyboard and mouse” adepts have an advantage, as gamepad lovers receive significant help due to auto-aiming.
Fall Guys
A game where dozens of participants run through funny arenas: giant hammers, rotating platforms, and other absurd obstacles. Each session is a set of rounds with different mini-games: sometimes survival on moving tiles, sometimes a relay race on slippery tracks. Fall Guys lets you play together anywhere: on PC, consoles, and phones. Progress is tied to your Epic Games Account, so all skins and achievements stay with you.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
The reboot of the most popular part of the legendary CoD: MW series was awaited more than any other. And the wait paid off, not just with cross-platform play, but with cross-platform progression. This means that while participating in dynamic network battles, you are free to switch from platform to platform without losing the experience accumulated by your character. At the same time, PC players easily coexist in the same match with console gamers lounging on the couch with a gamepad.
